🔧 Remediation Steps (English)
IMMEDIATE ACTIONS:
1. Identify all Windows systems in your environment using asset management tools
2. Restrict local access and implement principle of least privilege for user accounts
3. Disable unnecessary services and symbolic link creation where possible
4. Monitor for suspicious Mount Manager activity and symbolic link creation attempts

PATCHING GUIDANCE:
1. Apply Microsoft security patches immediately (MS15-xxx series)
2. Prioritize patching for domain controllers, servers, and administrative workstations
3. Test patches in non-production environments before enterprise deployment
4. Verify patch installation using Windows Update verification tools

COMPENSATING CONTROLS:
1. Implement application whitelisting to prevent unauthorized privilege escalation tools
2. Enable Windows Audit Policy for object access and privilege use events
3. Deploy endpoint detection and response (EDR) solutions to detect exploitation attempts
4. Restrict administrative access and enforce multi-factor authentication
5. Monitor Event Viewer for Mount Manager errors and symbolic link creation

DETECTION RULES:
1. Alert on Event ID 4688 (Process Creation) with Mount Manager or symbolic link operations
2. Monitor for unexpected SYSTEM-level process spawning from user sessions
3. Track creation of symbolic links in %TEMP% and system directories
4. Alert on failed Mount Manager operations followed by privilege escalation attempts

Windows Update
