📄 Description (English)

WebDrive 18.00.5057 contains a denial of service vulnerability that allows local attackers to crash the application by supplying an excessively long string in the username field during Secure WebDAV connection setup. Attackers can input a buffer-overflow payload of 5000 bytes in the username parameter and trigger a connection test to cause the application to crash.

🤖 AI Executive Summary

WebDrive 18.00.5057 contains a local denial of service vulnerability allowing attackers to crash the application via buffer overflow in the username field during Secure WebDAV setup. With a CVSS score of 6.2 and no available patch, this poses a moderate risk to organizations using WebDrive for secure file transfer operations. The vulnerability requires local access and user interaction, limiting its immediate threat scope but requiring prompt mitigation.

🔧 Remediation Steps (English)
Immediate Actions:
1. Identify all systems running WebDrive 18.00.5057 across the organization
2. Restrict local access to WebDrive to trusted users only
3. Implement application whitelisting to prevent unauthorized execution
4. Monitor WebDrive process crashes and log all connection attempts

Compensating Controls (No Patch Available):
1. Upgrade to WebDrive version 19.x or later if available
2. Implement input validation at the application level to reject usernames exceeding 256 characters
3. Deploy application sandboxing to isolate WebDrive from critical systems
4. Use network segmentation to limit WebDAV access to authorized systems only
5. Implement endpoint detection and response (EDR) to monitor for abnormal WebDrive behavior

Detection Rules:
1. Alert on WebDrive process crashes with exit code indicating buffer overflow
2. Monitor for username input attempts exceeding 1000 characters in WebDAV connection logs
3. Track failed WebDAV connection tests followed by application termination
4. Log all local user attempts to establish Secure WebDAV connections

Secure WebDAV
