📄 Description (English)

P10 Central Management Software 1.4.13 contains a buffer overflow vulnerability in the login password field that allows local attackers to crash the application by submitting an oversized input string. Attackers can paste a 2000-byte payload into the password field and click login to trigger an application crash and denial of service.

🤖 AI Executive Summary

CVE-2018-25296 is a local buffer overflow vulnerability in P10 Central Management Software 1.4.13 affecting the login password field, allowing attackers to cause denial of service through application crashes. While requiring local access and having no known public exploits, the lack of available patches and medium CVSS score (5.5) presents ongoing risk to organizations still running this legacy software. The vulnerability is particularly concerning for Saudi organizations using P10 for critical infrastructure management where availability is paramount.

🇸🇦 Saudi Arabia Impact Assessment
Organizations in Saudi Arabia using P10 Central Management Software 1.4.13 face denial of service risks, particularly in energy sector (ARAMCO subsidiaries), government infrastructure management, and critical facility operations. The vulnerability's local-only nature limits exposure but poses significant risk to insider threats and compromised user accounts. Government entities (NCA, NCSC oversight) and critical infrastructure operators should assess P10 deployment prevalence. The lack of patches makes this a persistent legacy system risk requiring compensating controls.
🏢 Affected Saudi Sectors
Energy (ARAMCO, oil & gas operations) Government (NCA, NCSC, critical infrastructure) Utilities (water, electricity distribution) Manufacturing (critical facility management) Healthcare (facility management systems)

🔧 Remediation Steps (English)
Immediate Actions:
1. Identify all systems running P10 Central Management Software 1.4.13 across your organization
2. Restrict local access to P10 systems through network segmentation and access controls
3. Implement strong authentication mechanisms and monitor for failed login attempts
4. Document all P10 deployments and create migration roadmap

Compensating Controls (No Patch Available):
1. Deploy application-level input validation and sanitization at the login interface
2. Implement rate limiting on login attempts to prevent brute force exploitation
3. Monitor system logs for application crashes and unusual login patterns
4. Use host-based intrusion detection to flag buffer overflow attempts
5. Restrict physical/local access to systems running P10
6. Implement application whitelisting to prevent unauthorized modifications

Long-term Remediation:
1. Prioritize migration to P10 version 1.4.14 or later (if available) or alternative management software
2. Evaluate vendor support status and security update roadmap
3. Implement network-based IDS/IPS rules to detect oversized password field submissions
4. Conduct security assessment of P10 deployment architecture

Detection Rules:
1. Monitor for login attempts with payloads exceeding 256 bytes
2. Alert on P10 application crashes correlated with login events
3. Track failed authentication attempts from same source within short timeframe
4. Monitor process memory for buffer overflow indicators
