📄 Description (English)

Vulnerability on the external sharing feature in Cryptobox allows an attacker knowing a sharing link URL to retrieve information from the server allowing an offline brute-force attack of the access code associated to this sharing link.

🤖 AI Executive Summary

CVE-2026-6805 is a high-severity vulnerability in Thales Group's Cryptobox external sharing feature that allows attackers with a sharing link URL to extract server information enabling offline brute-force attacks against access codes. With a CVSS score of 7.5 and no available patch, this vulnerability poses immediate risk to organizations using Cryptobox for secure file sharing. The lack of exploit availability provides limited window for remediation before weaponization.

🔧 Remediation Steps (English)
Immediate Actions:
1. Inventory all Cryptobox deployments across the organization and identify external sharing feature usage
2. Disable external sharing functionality in Cryptobox until patch is available
3. Audit access logs for suspicious sharing link access patterns and brute-force attempts
4. Notify all users with active sharing links to revoke and recreate them with stronger access codes

Compensating Controls:
1. Implement rate limiting on access code validation attempts at network/WAF level
2. Enforce complex access codes (minimum 12 characters, mixed case, numbers, symbols)
3. Implement IP whitelisting for sharing link access where operationally feasible
4. Deploy network segmentation to restrict Cryptobox access to trusted networks only
5. Enable comprehensive logging and monitoring of all sharing link access attempts
6. Implement SIEM alerts for multiple failed access code attempts from same IP

Detection Rules:
1. Monitor for multiple failed authentication attempts against sharing links (>5 attempts/minute)
2. Alert on access code validation requests from unusual geographic locations
3. Track sharing links accessed from multiple IP addresses within short timeframes
4. Monitor for automated scanning patterns against sharing link endpoints

Patching:
1. Contact Thales Group immediately for patch timeline and interim security updates
2. Establish patch testing procedures for critical security updates
3. Plan emergency patching process for when patch becomes available
